Biography

Mr. Abraham Galbut is the senior partner of the law firm, Galbut Walters & Associates LLP that was originally founded in 1953.  He was admitted June, 1976 and practiced in South Beach, Florida until 2005 when the firm relocated to their current offices at 4770 Biscayne Blvd., Miami, Florida 33137. He is an accomplished attorney in both transactional (real estate, corporate and finance) law and in litigation with a substantial practice in family, contract and construction, probate, and guardianship law. The firm consist of 5 lawyers, each bringing their expertise and experience to serve their diverse clientele. The firm has represented many international and national companies as well as the companies and individuals who call Miami home.

Mr. Galbut has had extensive experience in management and operating businesses within the healthcare industry. Mr. Galbut has acquired and operated home health agencies, adult living facilities and skilled nursing facilities since 1980, and has had the privilege of serving for six years as a Trustee of a public health trust at Jackson Memorial Hospital, a 3,000-bed safety net hospital of Miami-Dade County. During his tenor, Mr. Galbut served as Chairman of the Board responsible for the supervision and management of Jackson North Hospital, a division of the Public Health Trust. In addition, Mr. Galbut has served as general and special counsel to and through a number of different health care companies over the years providing management as well as legal advice. 

Currently, Mr Galbut holds interest through different legal entities and is either a principal, director or officer in Nursing homes, adult living facilities as well as other commercial, industrial, and residential properties in Florida and elsewhere in the United States.

Mr. Galbut has been involved in a number of companies for acquisition, development, and management of commercial and residential properties in South Florida and elsewhere. Mr. Galbut is actively involved in the hospitality and long-term healthcare industry, including the construction, renovation, management and operation of hotels and restaurants in South Florida as well as developing one of the largest not for profit nursing home networks in the United States in Miami Dade Country, Florida and in different businesses including the pharmacy business serving skilled nursing homes, adult living facilities and other institutional housing in thirteen states in the United States, serving approximately 60,000 patients daily. This diverse training has enabled Mr. Galbut to provide assistance in management and operation in the acquisition, development, finance, and management of all types of properties and businesses.

Mr. Galbut is a graduate of New York University with a B.A. degree and the University of Miami Law School with a Doctorate in Law. In addition to his many business pursuits, Mr. Galbut has been an active member of many civic and religious organizations. Mr. Galbut was a member of the United States Navy Judge Advocate General as an active reserve officer for six years and has led or served on many boards of local, regional, national, and international charities and other civic organizations, including as member of the City of Miami Beach Planning Board, the City of Miami Beach Health Advisory Board and a board member of the Public Health Trust for Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, Florida. He is also a member of the City of Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce, Miami-Dade County Bar Probate and Guardianship Committee, and a member of the Florida Bar, as well as a leader in many local religious schools and synagogues.

Mr. Galbut is married to Mrs. Nancy Galbut of Nashville, Tennessee. They have three sons and ten grandchildren, all of whom live in the South Florida area.
