Alan Walters

Biography

Attorney Alan S. Walters has been practicing law in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties for over 30 years. He has represented clients in many walks of life, including a major shareholder in multi-national real estate companies, a common law spouse in complex litigation regarding a $28 million dollar estate.

In June of 1977, Mr. Walters was awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, with majors in both Business Management and Business Marketing. Following his undergraduate studies, Mr. Walters pursued a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Miami, the same being conferred in May, 1980. After sitting for the Florida Bar, Mr. Walters began his legal career accepting a position in 1981 with the firm of Koppen Watkins Partners & Associates, where he practiced for eleven years. The firm was a general practice, and Mr. Walters had the opportunity to work in numerous areas, including commercial litigation, appellate work, probate, probate litigation, guardianship and real property law.

In 1992, Mr. Walters was offered and accepted a position with the firm of Galbut, Galbut, Menin and Wasserman. Although still working in numerous areas, his practice began to center on real estate, commercial real estate, probate, probate litigation and guardianship proceedings. After eight years with the firm, Mr. Walters took the opportunity to make use of both his law degree and management degree, serving as house counsel and manger in private sector companies.

In 2004, Mr. Walters returned to the full time practice of law, rejoining the firm now known as Abraham A. Galbut, P.A. With the real estate boom of the 2000's, he spent additional time working in residential and commercial real estate, as well as refinancing and transactional law. In 2013, Mr. Walters worked on his largest transaction, serving as an assisting counsel in a $130 million venture in which his clients acquired an interest in the majority of a Miami Beach Condo-Hotel.

Mr. Walters has three brothers, including an attorney, a certified public accountant, and a manufacturing cost analyst. Mr. Walters enjoys spending time with his two daughters, Jenna and Kaitlin. He has donated significant time and energy to community service, serving as a softball coach and manager with various Optimist Youth Leagues and travel squads. He continues to give time to the community, now volunteering as an assistant softball coach at Archbishop Curley-Notre Dame High School.
